From The Desk of Georgia Lee Hussey: Wealth = Money+Time+People+Skills+Wellbeing
Hey Friends,
As the year ends, I’ve been buoyed by positive news, classical music, and conversations with smart women who work in and report on the financial industry. Catch a piece of an early November conversation below. I’m appreciating this shift into deep winter —just like the rest of the natural world, we all need our season of (and permission to) rest.
I hope you’re able to enjoy some quiet moments as the year turns.
In rest and solidarity,
Georgia
VALUES & MONEY
When I chatted with Farnoosh last month, I encouraged folks to pick a policy focus (because we’re less anxious when we create permission to focus on a plan, and therefore, tune out the noise). Then consider how we can all use one (or more) of the five elements of wealth (time, money, relationships, skills, well-being) to support our focus.
good news
In my conversations, I’ve been relying on Progress Network’s newsletter What Could Go Right? to help me amplify some good news in recent conversations.
Take a read of The Best News of 2024 – US Edition to help you shift the next anxious conversation you’re in, too.
good news
You may know I’m a huge fan of contemporary classical music, so I’m proud as hell that Caroline Shaw, the youngest composer to receive the Pulitzer, and a queer woman, lives right here in Portland, Oregon!
I’ve been listening to her 2019 album Orange with the Attacca Quartet on repeat, yet it’s her minimalist arrangement of Abba’s Lay Your Love on Me for voice and xylophone that’s been bringing all the feels lately.
Join me in loving on some contemporary classical music!
