JUNE NEWSLETTER | Generosity in action for Pride + Juneteenth
Hi friends,
After a long and soggy winter, we’re welcoming summer with deep gratitude! As the sun comes out and we slow down between client meeting cycles, our team is taking time to rest and recharge (I just got back from Japan!)—and to revel in the longer, lighter days.
We hope you also enjoy some lazy summer days filled with folks you love,
Here’s to Spring growth,
Georgia + Team Modernist

Structure Your Wealth Around Your Values
Here’s a call to spend money supporting local economies, whether that’s at home or when you hit the road this summer.
Portland was recently named a Best Place to Travel by Forbes and took home a plethora of James Beard awards—Kann was named Best New Restaurant in America!—so visit us and give our businesses some love. And while you’re here, a few suggestions from our team…

Modernist takes it outside
Why is our proudly child-free founder a passionate supporter of the Pre-K for All tax? 🤔 Because we care about investing in our neighbors, loved ones, and community, and we’ve crunched the numbers, and the cost of childcare is not tenable for parents or their employers.
Georgia penned an op-ed in the Portland Business Journal to shed light on the importance of systemic support to create a more just society.

A Song That is Really About pride as a protest
In light of the recent drag show bans in Tennessee, Lizzo invited fabulous drag queens to join her at a recent show in Knoxville, TN for “Everybody’s Gay“, her anthem calling for safety in self-expression and joy. We love this as a reminder that Pride started as, and is still today, a protest.
Everybody's gay, yeah
(It's a happy place in here, baby, you're safe)
We can take our mask off
We can all ball and parlay
